Message:
It is interesting that you call this technology
"Palladium".
Palladium is a metal chiefly mined in The Soviet Union - now the
Russian Federation. They had/have near total control of the mining of, the
distribution and therefore the price of this metal word-wide. It is used in
the catalytic converters along with sometimes or in place of platinum. It is
also used in my field, dental technology. I use computers at home and at work.
I use a lot of freeware and shareware in my hobby of ham radio as WW2W. I
intend to use and to buy older and non-snooping hardware in the future. A
subculture of these non-conforming devices will proliferate. How you may ask?
"Nature finds a way" - Jurassic Park You are planning your own obsolescence. I
wish you all luck. Get out of the way or die, bit by bit.
Build chips and
machines that people want. You are creating a door that is a threat to what
Homeland Security SHOULD be here in the US and are jeopardizing other
concerned country's security as well. Please don't take sucking lessons from
Microsoft.

imagine how even a single error can cost you time and money, trying to fix it,
and that's if the vendors cooperate.

Oh wait, I bet since you work at a
company working to make that possible to force on users, vendors, and sysops,
I bet your workstation has more then a few invasive programs running that you
don't know about. Think about this. Executives unfortunately never see these

I wish to express my deepest
dissapointment that your company plans to produce palladium technology-based
hardware. This hardware, among other things, will greatly threaten and
infringe upon the open-source software movement, if only by forcing
hard-working developers to re-orient their solutions and/or create new ones
merely to be able to have their software continue to be accepted. While
Microsoft and other palladium advocates have attempted to assure everyone that
this will not be the case, open-source advocates have already detailed many
scenarios in which this new technology will do that very thing, as well as
providing great potential for privacy infringement and unacceptable corporate
control and involvement in the data and operations of personal computers. I
urge you to continue to provide high quality hardware which is not
palladium-based and warn you that this will be a major decision-point for me
when I make hardware purchasing decisions. I urge you to respect and value
the positions of your faithful customers on this subject, of which I am one.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear shortly that your fine company is
dealing with the palladium topic properly.

sincerely,
Jeffery Coleman

Hello!

If I buy a computer, I want to have the freedom to do
with it what I want! Itīs good, that DRM should beware of viruses, etc. but if
you use a virus scanner you can be 99% sure that you PC donīt become infected!

I would find it better to FORCE the users to use a virus scanner AND a
firewall!
DRM would to very unfair for users who havenīt access to the world
wide web! They were greatly disadvantaged!!!!!
I will beware myself for buying
AND using HW and SW (Win Longhorn included!) who supports the plans of TCPA,
DRM, etc.

Yours Sicerely

Michael Steiner

Hi,

hereby I
just want to point out, that I will accompany the growing group of people, who
will boykott user-hostile implementations like DRM, TCPA and Palladium.
The
first think I will check before purchasing hard- and software will be, if it
contains such implementations, or not. If it does, I will evade on
competition, and if the whole market doesn't offer such, I will stick to my
good, old hard- and software. Consider this for future for your own sake.
Costumers don't put up with everything and aren't in need of this thanks to
good-working hard- and software of today, anyway.

Best regards,

     Just
a quick statement to say that I strongly object to the concept of
Palladium/DRM/Trusted computing being forced upon the public via underhand
tactics and strategies whereby big business and big government seek to remove
control of people's own PC's for their own financial or political reasons.

We shall work here in the UK to raise awareness with the general public
about the activities of companies such as yourselves selling components that
aid the forced imposition of Palladium/DRM/Trusted computing. We shall
specifically list component model data and encourage as many of the public as
possible to boycott these items, or PC's fitted with these items.
