I strenously object to the broadcast flag initiative. While I agree with the
intent of the broadcast flag, in protecting intellectual property from those who
would steal it, the method and consequent restrictions on individuals seeking to
develop free software, video editing tools, and other similar projects; as well
as the implied limitations on future computer hardware, software, and even on
HAM radio operators demonstrates either a lack of forethought on the governments
part or an UNWITTING COOPERATION WITH A WELL THOUGHT OUT STRATEGY OF THE MEDIA
PRODUCTION ORGANIZATIONS TO ENABLE THEM TO CHARGE CONSUMERS FOR NORMALLY FREE
(AND LEGAL) ACTIVITIES.
Regardless this is a very poor decision and should be reconsidered before the
FCC in effect allows the media producers to control the US citizens freedoms.
